Miller Architects and Builders Scholarship

Introduction
The Miller Architects & Builders Scholarship Fund was established in 2006 to provide financial awards to graduating students from the company’s service area and to children of Miller Architects & Builders employees who are preparing for careers connected to the firm’s work. The scholarship supports high school seniors intending to pursue postsecondary education in fields tied to the building industry, including Architecture, Construction Management, Drafting/CAD, and Construction Technology trades (Carpentry, Electrical, HVAC/R, Land Surveying/Civil Engineering, Plumbing). The goal of the fund is to help young people continue their education and enter construction-related professions.
Who may apply
- High school senior
- Resident or student attending one of the listed high schools (by county), OR child of a Miller Architects & Builders employee
- Minimum cumulative GPA: 2.0 on a 4.0 scale
- Intending to enroll full time at a U.S.-based two- or four-year college or technical program
- Planning to study one of these areas: Architecture; Construction Management; Drafting/CAD; Construction Technology (Carpentry, Electrical, Heating, Air Conditioning & Refrigeration, Land Surveying/Civil Engineering, Plumbing)

Materials required for the online application
- Essay (one page, double-spaced): Describe which part of the construction industry appeals to you most and explain why you believe you will succeed in that construction-related field.
- Statement of Need and Responsibility: Briefly describe any personal, family, or life circumstances that affect your need for scholarship assistance.
- Activity lists:
1) Community service (civic, volunteer, church-related)
2) Extracurricular school activities (non-graded school involvement)
3) Work experience
- Electronic transcript: High school applicants must enter the guidance office email address into the application at least five days before the submission deadline so the guidance office can upload the transcript to the application before the deadline.
