Zale Parry Scholarship — Terms and Application Instructions
Overview
The Zale Parry Scholarship supports graduate students pursuing advanced study in diving-related fields. Below are the eligibility rules, required materials, submission address, and deadlines.
Who is eligible
- Must be a resident of the United States or Canada.
- Must be a certified scuba diver.
- Must be currently enrolled in a graduate (master’s) degree program. Note: applicants who have already graduated are not eligible.
- Relevant fields of study include:
- Aquatic biology, ecology, and other marine-science related disciplines
- Marine conservation and education
- Diving medicine and hyperbaric medicine
- Ocean engineering
- Underwater archaeology
Required application materials
Submit a complete packet that includes:
- The completed scholarship application form (select SCHOLARSHIP from the website menu or obtain the form online).
- Resume or curriculum vitae.
- A 500-word essay that explains your project/field of study and specifically describes how you would use the scholarship funds.
- Two letters of recommendation.
- Photocopies of all scuba/diving certification cards.

Deadlines and notification
- All application materials must be complete and postmarked no later than August 31 of the application year. Applications must be received by August 31st of the application year.
- The scholarship recipient will be chosen by September 30 each year and will be notified within a few days after selection.
