Newberry County Farm Bureau Scholarship — Overview
Award: One annual scholarship of $1,000.
Purpose
This scholarship supports students from Newberry County with farm family backgrounds or agricultural ties who plan to pursue postsecondary study in agriculture or agriculture-related fields. The program also aims to inspire recipients to gain the knowledge and leadership skills needed for roles in agriculture, civic life, and public service.
Who is eligible
- Must be a rising college sophomore, junior, or senior (entering one of those class years next academic year).
- Must be a resident of Newberry County and come from a farm family or have a farming background.
- Must be enrolled in, or planning to pursue, a bachelor’s degree in agriculture or an agriculture-related major.
Selection criteria
Recipients are chosen based on character, demonstrated leadership, and commitment to agriculture or related disciplines. The selection is made by a committee appointed by the Newberry County Farm Bureau Board of Directors and follows guidelines established by the Board.
Application requirements
- Complete application form (available for download online).
- Every page of the application must be initialed by the applicant.
- A recent photograph of the applicant must be attached to the submitted application.
Deadline and how to apply
- Application deadline: April 30 (annual).
- Download the application form from the Farm Bureau’s website and submit according to the instructions on the form.
Note: Only one $1,000 scholarship is awarded each year.
