About the Scholarship
Each year Wine Country Gift Baskets presents the Spirit of Giving Scholarship to three deserving students who exemplify generosity and community service. This award is intended to promote and sustain acts of kindness, service, and giving as essential values for the future.
Who is Eligible
Students who may apply include high school seniors and currently enrolled college students who intend to be enrolled full-time in the academic year that begins after the application period closes. Acceptable post-secondary institutions include, but are not limited to, four-year universities, community colleges, technical institutes, and accredited certificate or credential programs within the United States.
Applicants must also satisfy all of the following:
- Be planning to attend an institution in the U.S. during the next school year.
- Not be employed by, nor an immediate family member of an employee of, Wine Country Gift Baskets or Houdini Inc.
- Never have received this scholarship previously.
Application Requirements
To be considered, applicants must provide the following materials:
- Proof of enrollment for the upcoming academic year. Incoming first-year students may submit an acceptance letter plus an additional document that demonstrates they have begun engagement with the institution (for example, housing confirmation, orientation registration, or similar proof).
- A 500–750 word essay on one of these prompts:
- Describe ways you have promoted the spirit of giving in your local community or abroad through service or donations.
- Explain how the spirit of giving has influenced you personally.
- Discuss how your college or other post-secondary education will enable you to serve or give to others.
Selection Process
A three-person review panel from Wine Country Gift Baskets will evaluate submitted materials and essays to select recipients who best represent the scholarship’s mission and goals.
