Letitia Moore Charitable Trust Scholarship

Scholarship Sponsored by York Art Association

Value: $2,000
Awards Available: 2
Deadline : Sep 01, 2025

In 2009, the York Art Association established the Letitia Moore Charitable Trust Scholarship in honor of the late artist and association member, Letitia Moore. The scholarship was created in accordance with Moore's desire to offer financial assistance to deserving students pursuing studies in art or art history.

Who Can Apply?

The scholarship is open to students who meet the following criteria:

  1. They must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university.
  2. They must be majoring in either art or art history.
  3. They must have completed their first year of study with a minimum grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

However, YAA Trustees, their family members, or those who recommend candidates are not eligible to participate in this program.

Application Process

Applicants are required to submit a letter of application that includes:

  • A description of the applicant's educational and career objectives, along with any information that demonstrates the applicant's worthiness for the scholarship.
  • A reference letter, including the names and contact numbers of two or three individuals who can vouch for the applicant's abilities and ambitions.
  • Proof of eligibility, which should be an official transcript from the applicant's college or university. This transcript should confirm that the applicant is beyond their first year of study in art or art history and has achieved a minimum GPA of 3.0 in the previous year of study. If the institution does not use a GPA grading system, a letter from the department chair or advisor confirming the student's good standing may be used instead.

Key Dates and Details

  • The deadline for applications is September 1st of the current scholarship year.
  • A decision will be made within 60 days of the application deadline.
  • Scholarship funds will be paid directly to the recipient's college or university and can only be used for tuition fees.
  • The scholarship amount will be determined at the discretion of the YAA executive and scholarship committees.
