Program Overview
The Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nurses Society (WOCN) and the WOCN Society Foundation administer an educational scholarship program to support the development of WOC nursing worldwide. Scholarships are funded through contributions from individual members and industry partners and are managed by the Society’s Scholarship Committee. Awards are intended to offset education costs and promote growth in the specialty. The Foundation is responsible for raising and distributing funds and maintaining accountability for award disbursement.
Description: Partial educational scholarships are offered to nurses pursuing education in wound, ostomy, and continence nursing to help increase the workforce and expertise in the specialty.
Award Value: Partial scholarships are awarded at $2,000 per recipient.
History of the Award: The Scholarship Committee is a standing committee of the WOCN Society, and the Scholarship Program is operated under the auspices of the WOCN Society Foundation, which manages fundraising and award distribution.

WOCN Accredited Educational Scholarship
The Accredited Educational Scholarship supports nurses who plan to attend or are enrolled in a WOCN-accredited Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nursing Education Program (WOCNEP). Awards are intended to assist with the costs associated with WOCNEP participation and to encourage professional development within the specialty. The program focuses on candidates who can demonstrate acceptance, enrollment, or recent completion of an accredited WOCNEP and who meet membership and recommendation requirements. Selection is based on application completeness and supporting documentation.
Description: Scholarships are specifically targeted to nurses attending WOCN-accredited WOCNEPs to facilitate entry into specialty practice.
Eligibility: Applicants must be current WOCN Society members and provide proof of acceptance, current enrollment, or certificate of completion (within three months) from a WOCN-accredited WOCNEP. Additional requirements include a completed application, two professional letters of recommendation (one preferably from a current employer), and no WOCN Foundation educational award within the previous three years.

WOCN Advanced Educational Scholarship
The Advanced Educational Scholarship helps practitioners pursuing advanced academic degrees or advanced practice preparation to further their WOC nursing careers. Funds are intended to offset costs associated with Master’s, Doctoral, or Advance Practice Professional (APP) education and to support professional and academic advancement within the specialty. The Scholarship Committee evaluates applicants based on education plans, clinical experience in WOC nursing, certification, and supporting documentation. Awards are distributed through the WOCN Foundation to qualified candidates.
Description: Scholarships provide financial support for advanced academic degrees or APP preparation to develop leaders and advanced clinicians in WOC nursing.
Eligibility: Applicants must be pursuing a Master’s, Doctoral, or APP program and provide proof of an unrestricted RN license, WOCNCB certification in one or more WOC areas, and three years of relevant employment within the last five years. Additional requirements include current WOCN Society membership, proof of enrollment/acceptance/completion from an accredited program (or NLN-accredited nursing program), a completed application, two professional letters of recommendation (one preferred from a current employer), and no Foundation educational award within the previous three years.
