Sharon’s story
Sharon devoted more than 19 years to the Maintenance Department at Twiddy & Company. She met Doug Twiddy while working elsewhere, and he quickly recognized her potential to become an important part of the Twiddy team. During her time in maintenance, Sharon coordinated with both the in-house crew and local vendors to arrange and complete upkeep for Twiddy vacation properties. Her work brought her into contact with many Outer Banks residents and their families, and she formed lasting friendships throughout the company and the surrounding community. At company gatherings she was often the first person on the dance floor and stayed dancing well into the evening. Sharon is fondly remembered at Twiddy & Company for her radiant smile and tireless work ethic.
Eligibility
Please review the following requirements before submitting an application. Familiarity with the Outer Banks is not required, but applicants are encouraged to learn about the region prior to applying. A selection committee will evaluate submissions against the criteria below.
Desired applicant profile
- Preference given to applicants with connections to Northeastern North Carolina.
- Currently enrolled at a college or university in the United States.
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (or international equivalent).
- Active participation in campus or community organizations, with demonstrated leadership responsibilities.
- Application must include all required documentation listed below:
- An original essay of at least 500 words addressing one of these prompts:
- What does family vacation mean to you?
- How will advances in technology shape the hospitality industry?
- Official college transcripts that show courses taken and current GPA (or international equivalent).
- Two letters of recommendation: one addressing character and one addressing professional abilities.
- A current professional resume.
