Utom Conservation Fund Scholarship

The Utom Conservation Fund is overseen by a collective of organizations* committed to the preservation of the Utom River and its surrounding watershed in the southern region of California. Our enthusiasm for the area's wildlife, culture, flora, and water bodies is unwavering. To further our conservation efforts and promote interest in this unique landscape, we are allocating a portion of our funds to students who share our fervor for nature and the cultural heritage of the region. We will be awarding 10 grants, each worth $2,000.
Eligibility:
The following individuals are eligible for the scholarships:
- High school seniors
- Students at Junior Colleges
- Undergraduate students at Colleges / Universities
- Applicants must live within the Utom River Watershed
- Members of tribes (including unrecognized tribes) will be given special consideration
Application Procedure and Guidelines:
- Application Form: Submit an essay detailing your enthusiasm for the environment and the Utom River Watershed. If you have previously been involved in a project that showcases your interest in environmental conservation, please provide details. If this is a new area of interest for you, that's fantastic – we are eager to learn about your passion and your plans for it! (Essays should be 500 words or less).
- Optional: You may choose to submit a video (1 minute or less) expressing your interest in environmental conservation. Please upload the video to YouTube (unlisted) and include the link in your application.
- A reference letter from an academic staff member verifying your enrollment at your current educational institution.
