Intro and Application Dates
- The 2026–2027 scholarship cycle is expected to open on or about March 1, 2026. Applications will be due on or about April 30, 2026. Application and recommendation forms will be made available on this page when the 2026–2027 period begins.
Award Amount
- Multiple scholarships will be awarded; each will be paid as a lump-sum award.
Purpose
- The scholarship program seeks to support and strengthen the land surveying profession in Pennsylvania by providing financial assistance to individuals who plan to pursue, or are currently pursuing, an education in surveying with the ultimate aim of becoming licensed Professional Land Surveyors.
Payment Schedule
- Awards are paid in two installments: the first payment is issued by early fall of the award year and the second payment at the start of the following calendar year. Receipt of each installment is contingent on the recipient’s continued enrollment in an approved program (see Eligibility).
Selection, Announcement, and Non-Discrimination
- Recipients are selected by the Foundation’s Board of Trustees. Selection will be based on academic and extracurricular achievements, quality and content of application responses, grammar and overall presentation, plus the advisor’s evaluation. Awardees will be announced in July each year. The Foundation does not discriminate in its selection process on the basis of age, race, religion, sex, ancestry, or national origin.
Eligibility Requirements
- U.S. citizenship and residency in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
- Enrollment in, or acceptance to, either a two-year Surveying Technology program or a four-year Bachelor of Science program in Land Surveying.
- Submission of SAT scores (for high school applicants) and copies of high school or college transcripts. Transcripts must be accompanied by a completed transcript release from the student’s guidance office or the registrar’s office.
Application Materials and References
- Applicants must provide three character references from individuals who are not family members.
- The student’s guidance counselor or academic advisor must complete the Evaluator Scholarship Recommendation Form, providing an objective assessment of the applicant’s academic performance and character. This evaluator form should be sent separately from the student’s application.
Evaluation and Scoring (100 points total)
- Academic Record — 30 points
- High school seniors: scored on SAT results (verbal/critical reading up to 15 points; math up to 15 points).
- College students: scored on cumulative GPA at the time of application.
- Activities — 20 points
- Consideration of honors, extracurricular activities, work experience, leadership roles, and other notable qualifications.
- Applicant Statement — 30 points
- Assessment of the written statement for substance, clarity of career objectives and ambitions, organization, grammar, spelling, and overall neatness.
- References and Evaluator Recommendation — 20 points
- Based on the three character references and the counselor/advisor’s evaluation submitted on the required recommendation form.
