Eligibility & Requirements
Eligibility is limited to graduating high school seniors enrolled in Texas who meet PTA membership and campus PTA status requirements by specified dates. Applicants must plan to enroll full-time in an accredited postsecondary institution for the term immediately following graduation. Certain family relationships to Texas PTA leadership or staff disqualify applicants. A completed electronic application must be submitted by the November deadline indicated in the guidelines.
Eligibility: Applicants must be graduating seniors from Texas schools with an active Local PTA/PTSA by December 1, be current PTA members at their campus by December 1, plan full-time enrollment in the next term, and not be immediate family of Texas PTA Board members or staff.

Preparing Required Documents
Prepare and upload required documents in accepted formats before starting the online application to avoid delays. Preferred file formats are .pdf, .doc, or .docx. The application requires a one-page resume, a non-official high school transcript, and three written responses to specified prompts with strict word-count limits. Applicants should also have contact information for their PTA President and school counselor available.
The online application requires:
- One-page resume listing school activities, community involvement, recognitions, awards, and work experience.
- Copy of high school transcript (official copy not required for application).
- Three separate written responses (each 150–300 words) to the prompts below:
- How do you envision your higher education and future career impacting your community?
- How have your personal experiences or support systems influenced your educational journey and decision to pursue further studies?
- How has PTA been a positive influence on your K–12 experience? Provide specific examples of involvement or benefits.
- Names and email addresses for your PTA President and school counselor.
- Submit documents in .pdf, .doc, or .docx format (PDF preferred).
- Each essay answer must be between 150 and 300 words.
- Have PTA President and counselor contact details ready for verification.
Application Process
The application process proceeds in stages: prepare documents, complete the online application, undergo multi-round review, and, if selected, complete disbursement requirements. Finalists may be asked for additional information during review. Results are posted publicly and awardees must claim and verify eligibility within the specified timeframe to receive funds. Disbursements are issued directly to the institution of enrollment and missing deadlines will forfeit the award.
