Earl W Kintner Public Service Scholarship

Overview
The Foundation of the Federal Bar Association offers an annual Public Service Scholarship of $5,000 to assist a graduating high school senior who intends to enroll in a four-year college or university.
Eligibility
To qualify, the applicant must be a high school senior graduating in the current year and planning to attend a four-year college or university. At least one parent or guardian must currently serve as a federal government attorney or as a federal judge.
About the Scholarship
The award is financed by the Earl W. Kintner Memorial Fund. Earl W. Kintner, a respected member of the Federal Bar Association and two-time national president, is remembered for his professional and civic leadership, which the scholarship seeks to honor and emulate.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit all of the following:
- An online application
- A personal essay
- An official, unaltered academic transcript
- A copy of the letter of acceptance from the college or university the student will attend
Evaluation Criteria
Selections are made based on academic performance, demonstrated leadership, involvement in school and community service and activities, and the strength of the personal essay—evaluated both for substance and written communication skills.
Key Dates and Notifications
All application materials must be received by April 30 each year. Incomplete submissions will not be considered. Scholarship recipients and those not selected will be notified by July 31.
