Purpose
The Indiana Mining & Mineral Education Program (IMMEP) Scholarship aims to accomplish two goals: (1) bolster Indiana’s aggregates sector by encouraging careers in the field and supporting students pursuing those career paths, and (2) build partnerships with colleges and universities that offer education relevant to aggregates industry careers.
Eligibility
Applicants must meet all of the following:
- Be an Indiana resident and a United States citizen.
- Be a high school graduate or currently on track to graduate and planning to continue into post-secondary education.
- Be preparing to major in a program that leads to an aggregates-industry career. Relevant fields include, but are not limited to, Civil Engineering, Engineering Science, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Geology, Geological Engineering, Mineral Science, Mining Engineering, Certified Welder, Diesel Mechanic, Safety Management, or other applicable programs.
How to apply
Submit the required materials through the online application form by April 15th. Required items:
1. Completed application form submitted via the online portal.
2. Official high school transcript (include SAT or ACT scores if available).
3. Official college transcript if you are currently enrolled in college.
4. At least one letter of recommendation from a reference (you may submit up to three references and letters).
5. An essay of 300 words or fewer describing your goals, the college you plan to attend, how your chosen field relates to Indiana’s aggregates industry, and your reasons for applying for this scholarship.
Review and notification
A selection committee will evaluate applications using the criteria below. Applicants chosen for awards will be notified no later than May 31st.
Selection criteria:
- Academic achievement
- Extracurricular involvement
- Demonstrated career interest in the Indiana aggregates industry
- Personal or professional connection to the Indiana aggregates industry
- Quality and content of the essay
