Overview
The Humane Studies Fellowship awards up to $10,000 to support PhD students and postdoctoral researchers as they complete major research projects, present at leading conferences, and publish in prominent journals. The fellowship aims to back high-impact projects that enhance a recipient’s research profile and career opportunities. Recipients also gain access to additional IHS resources, such as job-market assistance, in-person and online events, and other professional-development offerings.
What recipients must provide
During the fellowship period, awardees are required to share copies of any research that is completed, presented, submitted for review, or published as it becomes available. In addition, recipients must report notable progress on their project(s) made while holding the fellowship.
Review timeline
Applications are considered on a rolling basis. Applicants can expect to be informed of award decisions within eight weeks of submitting their application.
Who is eligible
- Must be a full-time PhD student or be engaged in a postdoctoral fellowship.
- Previous applicants and prior fellowship recipients may reapply.
- Participation in other IHS programs is welcomed but not mandatory.
- Candidates enrolled at any university, including institutions outside the United States, are eligible; priority is given to applicants affiliated with leading research universities.
