Introduction
The BSL Educational Foundation Inc. announces scholarship opportunities for graduating Connecticut high school seniors from public and private schools. These awards are intended for students who will begin study in the 2026–27 academic year — enrolling in either a two‑year or four‑year college or university in Fall 2026. Each scholarship is a one‑time grant of $2,000 to support the recipient’s freshman year.
Who may apply
- Graduating Connecticut high school seniors (public or private schools).
- Selection criteria specifically reference graduating seniors from Hartford County schools.
- Applicants must plan to enroll in a two‑ or four‑year college or university beginning Fall 2026.
- Preference is given to Black/African American male seniors; male students entering college as freshmen in the fall are especially encouraged to apply.
Academic and activity requirements
- Minimum cumulative GPA: 3.0 (class rank and academic achievement are considered).
- Documentation of community service and other school or community extracurricular involvement is required.
- Submission of a personal essay as described in the application packet is mandatory.
Application timeline and process
- Application deadline: April 30th.
- Applicants identified as finalists for the 2025 BSL Educational Foundation scholarship will be notified by the committee.
- Finalists will participate in an interview; the interview is the last step in selecting award recipients.
Award reception and enrollment verification
- An awards reception for recipients will take place in early June 2024; recipient attendance at this event is required.
- Prior to the Awards Reception, the BSL Educational Foundation Inc. must receive proof of Fall Semester 2025 enrollment at a four‑year college or university.
