Introduction
Gram’s Promise Charitable Foundation was established to honor the memory of Elizabeth “Libby” Frist. A dedicated member of the White Marsh community, Libby died on August 8, 2005 after a long battle with lung cancer. During her illness she wanted to speak with young adults about her experience and to emphasize the importance of living tobacco-free.
Mission and Activities
Gram’s Promise works locally to promote tobacco-free living, focusing especially on children. The foundation advances awareness, personal responsibility, and respect for life through education, community engagement, and collaborative partnerships. The Elizabeth Ann “Libby” Frist Memorial Scholarship honors selected high school seniors who have shown leadership and activism among their peers in opposing tobacco use. Maryland high school seniors who are tobacco-free and who have demonstrated a commitment to anti-smoking advocacy are encouraged to apply.
